Description

The beach of Drepanos, washed by the Gulf of Corinth, lies at the northernmost tip of the Peloponnese, approximately 16km northeast of the Achaean capital (Patras) and almost opposite Nafpaktos and the coasts of Aitoloakarnania.
Taking the famous lighthouse that adorns it as a point of reference, its eastern side is verdant and suitable for a relaxed stay. Close to the lighthouse, however, the scenery goes wild. The Cape of Drepanos, also known as Path of Panagia, a small peninsula that juts into the sea and looks like a sickle, is the new hot spot that gathers lovers of extreme marine sports from Greece and abroad.
This particular pointy beach is divided by a sandbar into two sides, an onshore and an offshore one, to allow training depending on the direction of the wind. The area is swept by thermal air and sometimes strong winds, depending on the season, while there are low and high tides and occasional strong undersea currents.
These special conditions are highly sought after by windsurfers and kitesurfers, as a result of which the area –being easily accessible and with accommodation facilities– becomes colorful and is flooded by lovers of these sports from all over the world, having dynamically entered the world map of beaches of particular interest.
