Description

Having been formed around the 6th century AD, Lake Caiaphas, at a distance of 5km from Zacharo and facing the Kyparissia gulf, extends over a surface area of 370 acres.

With a length of nearly 3km and a water depth of 2m, in addition to its sheer beauty, the lake has also been recognized as a wetland of special value, included in international treaties.

Apart from the small church of Agia Ekaterini that is built here, the point of reference is the popular homonymous spa town. The legendary healing waters, springing from the foothills of Mt. Lapitha, are renowned for their healing properties. The Lake, helped by its developed hospitality infrastructure, has enjoyed particularly increased spa tourism in the recent past. The lake is also the focus of nautical sports events, including skiing and rowing, since it meets the required specifications and is favored by its mild climatic conditions.
The lake is the crown of a coastal zone, and by combining geomorphologically the sea, forest and thermal baths, it offers unique characteristics that make it a destination for demanding visitors.
