Description

Amidst a dense fir tree forest, at an altitude of over 1000m, Zarouchla is built on the slopes of Mount Helmos, and is regarded as one of the most beautiful mountain villages of the Achaean territory.
Near the border with the Prefecture of Corinthia, at a distance of 35km south of Akrata and 35km east of Kalavryta, with the wonderful lake Tsivlou 12km to the north and the Kalavryta ski resort at about 20km to the west, and 2.5 hours away from Athens, Zarouchla has dynamically entered the tourist map of the Peloponnese as a resort of excellent potential.
The village’s centuries-old historical roots are evidenced by its tower houses, in particular the tower of Asimakis Fotilas, probably built in the 17th century and declared a listed monument, and its Byzantine churches, some of which date from the 12th or 13th century.
The settlement’s cobbled streets, its traditional guesthouses, the three streams that confluence with their sparkling waters, the fir forest, the chestnut and black pine trees that surround it and its stone houses make up a captivating scene, highlighting Zarouchla as a popular destination, and the starting point for excursions and alternative activities in nature.
