The Mercouri Estate, a large farm surrounded by wonderful nature, founded in 1864 and boasting a long history in the production of wine, olive oil and formerly Corinthian raisins, is considered one of Greece’s most historic wineries. It is situated in the village of Korakochori, Ilia very close to Katakolo and some 12km from Pyrgos.
In recent years, the estate was given a special identity and won significant recognition as a result of the expansion and remodelling of its old facilities, renewal of vineyards, improved winemaking potential for the production of standardized wines, continuous investment plans and targeted upgrades.
It stands out for its buildings, including the family's imposing Italian-style villa, the winery complex, the underground cellars, the old tavern and the stable, which today houses a small folklore museum. The estate produces an award-winning range of wines from local and imported varieties, and top-quality, exportable olive oil. In addition, it also has some cultural presence by staging musical events and conferences, while it is renowned for the high-standard agritourism services it provides to nature and wine lovers, including tours and tasting activities.
