Description

A verdant, unspoilt area known as Loutra Tryfos lies half the way between Amfilochia and Vonitsa, about 8km north-west of the village of Tryfos and 8km south of the coastal settlement of Loutraki.
Visitors here can check out the thermal springs of Agios Varvaros gushing forth, and along the river Nissa will come across impressive waterfalls and ponds springing up among dense vegetation. Surely a place of serenity, healing and recreation. The waters that run through the area, whether suitable for spa treatments or drinking, have healing properties.
In this magical landscape dominated by the waterfalls, nature lovers can enjoy wonderful trails suitable for hiking, as well as the purest hydromassage and the most beautiful dives in the small natural lakes formed by the rushing waters of the river.
A unique oasis of repose, which however is in need of restoration and reformation projects to revive thermal baths and accommodation facilities left to the ravages of time. The region also features the small church of Agios Varvaros, a saint considered a myroblyte and thaumaturge.
