Situated at a distance of 6km from the town of Gastouni and five minutes from the settlement of Paleochori, the beach of Bouka, with its huge length of over 3km, is surrounded by low vegetation and welcomes in its arms the mouth of the river Pineios.
Sandy and in a southwest orientation, the beach has moderately deep waters and its coastal zone is about 30m wide.
It is a welcoming beach for families and children, partly serviced and equipped with basic infrastructure. Its larger part remains unserviced to the satisfaction of those who seek a more direct contact with nature.
On the coast, where tamarinds and sea lilies grow, one comes across rough stilts for the convenience of campers. An adjacent settlement was established by locals to meet primarily their holiday needs.
The area’s highlights include the peri-urban forest of Paleochori, a green oasis of mainly pine trees, and the Douana’s Bridge, Pineios river crossing that was used for the former site of a Venetian customs house.
