HIKING IN THE ARMS OF NATURE
The unaltered natural environment of Aetolia-Acarnania is an attraction for hiking enthusiasts. The trails of Mountainous Nafpaktia cross vast forests of oak, chestnut and fir, while the mountainous complex of Panaitoliko and the ridge of Arakynthos, both Natura-protected areas, will leave you speechless with their rich vegetation and magnificent views. Trek to the twin waterfalls of Mokistianos or wander in the forest of Lessini, west of the River Acheloos, to admire rare ash trees and silver poplars. In Klokova, the demanding routes favor the bold mountaineers, and in Varasova rock climbers can test their strength in one of the best climbing areas in Greece. For mountain bike enthusiasts, the ideal destinations are Trikorfo and the mountain villages on the west side of Panaitolikos.
A VISIT TO AQUATIC HEAVEN
In the hospitable waters of°Evinos, you can opt for refreshing rafting or canoe kayaking experiences. Lake Trichonida, the largest natural lake in Greece, is protected by the European Natura 2000 program and is ideal for sailing. However, keen water skiers will prefer Stratos Lake with its National Water Ski Center for international level training.
