The Holy Monastery of Agion Panton (All Saints) is situated amidst a thick forest 35km south of Patras, 2km from the settlement of Velimachi and 10km from Kalendzi. It was built between 1715 and 1728 and is said to have been initially built where the Taxiarchon Monastery is today, at the foot of Mt Erymanthos.
Well-preserved and with a rich history, modest and stone-built, it has the form of a castle-monastery, since it is built around the perimeter, while on its walls, above the entrance gates, one can observe battlements and bastions as protective-defence mechanisms against the Turks. The doors of temples and cells were particularly small to prevent horses from entering.
It is characterized by the impressive vaulted elements around the perimeter of the central courtyard, with highlights including the iconography that adorns the catholicon, dedicated to the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary, and the two chapels, of Saint John the Forerunner and of All Saints.
The male monastery, which has undergone restoration work on the exterior spaces and cells, celebrates All Saints' Sunday with great splendor.
